Gene Expression Tools
There is a wide variety of modern tools available to analyze gene expression within an organism. For the purpose of this project, three gene expression techniques were used to study RYR2. RNA-interference, chemical genetics, and microarrays were used for this particular study, though there are many more techniques can be used in research. To learn more about each technique and RYR2, click the designated page in the drop-down menu.
RNA-interference
This genomic technique uses double stranded RNA to interfere with messenger RNA and silence the gene of interest before it can be transcribed into a protein. |
Chemical Genetics
Chemical genetics explores how different small molecules affect various gene expression and protein function. This technique is used in pharmaceutical research. |
